Between the sky and the sea, the Cinque Terre are stretched along the Ligurian Riviera and are bound to each other through the waves of the sea and the uncountable paths, offering breath-taking panaromas on a unique landscape made of cliffs, sea, vineyards and superb scents. The men and women from Cinque Terre have stubbornly moulded such a landscape and spent their lives building dry stone walls, a masterwork which still engraves the wisdom of these 5 villages: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, Monterosso.

Riomaggiore is the first village. Its origins date back to the VIII century and it is named after the stream crossing it (Rivus Major). Its colourful houses stretch from the hill to the sea and surround the small marina. Riomaggiore's XIII century castle overlooks the town from the top of the hill whether the St. John gothic church, built in 1340, still hosts religious ceremonies and feasts.
The Via dell'amore (Lovers' lane) is a charming path carved in the rocks, which links Riomaggiore to the second village, Manarola.
